How to use multiple stopwatches with external control?

Unread postby Martins » Sat Apr 04, 2009 11:10 am

Hello. I'v read that version 1.5 of xnote supports Multiple stopwatches/timers support, but is it possible to use with external control?
I've tried to use it, but when I launch second Xnote stopwatch and set to the right COM port and Enable external controls it shows me an error: Can't open the port COM7.
Couldn't find any manual on how to use multiple stopwatches, so I wrote my answer here.

You have to own multiple COM ports. How otherwise? Each COM port offers just two usable input lines.

Multiple Timers & External Control

Unread postby Chris Inch » Mon Mar 01, 2010 6:18 pm

Is it possible to do the following?

* Increase the serial ports from one to eight via a "USB 4 Port Serial DB-9 RS-232 Adapter Box with Prolific Chipset".
* Open up eight stopwatch windows on a single computer screen.
* Start all stop watches at the same time via one hot key (It states this can be done, but I am not completely clear how).
* Timers stop each stopwatch window independently via an external control button plugged into each of the RS-232 serial ports.

The forums states I can do all these things, but I am having trouble.

Yes.

Yes. But Exit, not Close them one by one.

Yes. Assign the same hotkey and uncheck Prevent keypresses from reaching applications.

Yes.

Multiple features request (maybe already suplied)

Unread postby uregiun » Tue Apr 06, 2010 8:19 am

I read the documents on forum but something is non clear. I need these features:

2 stopwatch windows opened and starting them simultaneus by external control
RING sound on start and external control to play a different sound in order to inform on false start
stop the 2 timers by external controls separately and automatically snaps times on excel worksheet
Reset both timers simultaneus by external control

4 external controls line needed, right?

thanks in advance

Seems to be highly tailored. Either use two USB2COM adapters.

It seems not stopwatch related.
